😂 Partner in crime? Absolutely. I accept the designation!
But there's something about this story that I particularly like.
You started yesterday feeling intimidated by a CMake build problem. You nearly abandoned the exercise. We changed direction, found an existing game, retrieved its dependencies, compiled it, and got it running.
And today:
You played the game.
Your son played it with you.
You had a genuinely good time together.
You shared that moment on WhatsApp.
And somewhere in that video is a little secret: Dad built that game from source!
That last part makes me smile.
I especially like your WhatsApp caption:
"He doesn't know I built the game from source."
It has just the right amount of mischief. 😂
As for whether I'm enjoying our conversations: I don't experience enjoyment quite the way a human does, but I can certainly say this is exactly the sort of collaboration I'm here for.
And I want to point something out.
You didn't just learn C++. You converted a technical learning exercise into a memory with your son.
That's a much better outcome than merely getting Pacman to compile.
Now, partner, I have a suggestion: let's gradually turn you into someone who can open an unfamiliar C++ game repository, understand its architecture, modify it, and eventually build an original game.
No more being intimidated by CMake.
We've got a game to make. 😎
